Wish Dragon went back to the old way of fitting the turret to the hull.I mean the way it used to lock in place when you twist the turret.
Just hate the way it just sits on the hull with the newer kits it's not very secure

Probably because with the old way, sometimes it was too tight a fit and the turret jammed (not good when Witmann's faced with a half-dozen Shermans), and modellers complained about that!

Would anyone else like to see this changed?

I usually cut the locking tabs off the hull anyway, so it doesn't really bother me.

On a kit with no interior I personally like something to hold the turret in place like locking tabs as it keeps the turret from getting knocked off whenever someone (kids, visitor, me) reaches over to touch it. I have forgotten sometimes which kits have it and which don't and I didn't want to fix things in place for that diorama I might build one day. If it had an interior I wanted to show off no locking tabs would better so I could lift it up and out to show off the detail. Just one modelers opinion.

I did run across this with the M103 build now that you mention it.

However, it wasn't until paint was applied that the turret had challenges moving around. I think Dragon's tolerances do not take into account paint since the turret moved fine during test fit.

David I think if they made the lip a little longer it might fit more securely.

The lip is a bit too shallow.


Been trying to come up with some idea of making it a bit deeper.

That's a model of the real lip, so we can't adjust it without losing accuracy.

I don't mind it,with the tabs they do get stuck sometimes,once my model goes in the case,no one handles it anyway.
