While my Panzer III progresses to weathering I have decided to start my next build. This (my first Allied for 25 odd years) was meant to be for the Bronco campaign.

kit looks nice (know the engine deck is not 100% correct but cant source the TMD replacement in the UK)... going to hide that innacuracy with stowage.

want to do the 5RTR version from France 1940 BUT the kit only has the full rear sand skirt rather than the shorter version..

1) anyone know if the full skirt was fitted in Europe 1940
2) if not, anyone know of a replacement set (or have sapres from another kit that would fit the Bronco one)

if not it seems a fairly straightforward cut - any damage could be battle damage ;-)

anyway started with suspension and wheels - will post some piccies tomorrow.....

If you are willing to scratchbuild a new deck this template was created in cooperation with Bob Gregory and is (I think) the basis of the TMD item.

made some progress last night - found that using tamiya tape to hold the tracks and working out that there is ~2mm between each tread plate allowed me to make some progress... 10cm in about an hour ;-)

also did some other work - turret is coming on nicely and bodged together the aerial mounting (cant stretch spure for love nor money so it will be left empty). Commanders hatch is under way as are the mountings for the spaced armour

Nice job so far!
That design looks like the Russian KV-1, think the Russians copied it?

Nice build so far. As to antenna, I frequent a bar that has bands and the guitar players are always breaking strings. I collect these up as a source of wire for antennas and such. Just a thought. Wayne

primer on (first use of Vallejo primer - must say is sprays nicely and has a very tough finish...)... photos of some boring grey and also of a test piece with the colour shceme I am planning on using (have touched this up with AK interactive "green for dark green" filter which ties things in better) - possibly a tad too green, but going to weather it in to a better colour (I hope). Have only done the lower sections & exhaust as want to paint & mask these before doing the rest of he building and painting

photos from the work so far... need to do a couple more green filter coats on the hull, exhaust needs rusting up and then add the mud/dust. gear on the back is placed - needs gluing and then "tiying" down and then need to finish the bike:
