I've read somewhere that some Abrams or ASLAV crews install a backboard on the turret or their AFV in case of back injuries.
This link is one I made and it will take you to Shapeways 3D printing website. The link was very long so I shortened it in Chrome.
The designer (I think) sells 10 pieces for 20$ and if you use the search you might find moresellers.
Oh and here's the link: http://goo.gl/LLE3d6
I'm not connected in any way to Shapeways or the designer. Just sharing something interesting.

Hate to have to drill out all those hand holds.
Maybe I'm better off just scratching them from a scale sized drawing and Evergreen sheet stock???
Just saying or asking . . .

Try Mouse House. These look like they'll fit the bill really well

I have that set of spine boards from Shapeways, they were designed by Armorama's own Matt Leese. The boards are quite good and correspond perfectly to the boards made by North American Rescue Products; used those boards more times than you could shake a stick at when I worked in EMS. You could use pretty much any of the boards on the market, they represent boards by different manufacturers. Most of the boards I saw used by Marine units were green since they came in equipment sets, there were one or two in our BAS that had been "acquired" from other sources and spray painted to camouflage the brighter color IIRC the underlying board was orange!

Isn't drilling those hand holds much less trouble than drawing/scratching them on an Evergreen sheet, cutting them, sanding them and ending up drilling the same hand holds? Just saying

I don't know the answer to that question, maybe. I would just scale a computer graphic to 1/35th scale, print it, glue it to the plastic sheet, drill the hand holds out and then sand off the paper print.
I guess what I am really saying is that I don't understand why the hobby manufacture did not cast or 3D print the voids for the hand holds into the item in the first place?

Stretchers have now been joined in PAU-35048/50 and there's one per sets. If I've read right:

If only I would know how-to do that myself
