Hello,

I just stumbled upon the Vallejo Sandy Paste product as somebody mentioned using this for anti-slip coating on US vehicles.

Did anybody have personal experience using it? It would be great as it would also make for an excellent weathering material for mud, along with their Brown Earth product.

Thanks!

I used coarse pumice on my Leo 1, a little too grainy for US vehicles I think, but it is easy to use. The sandy paste is a lot finer. One thing you'll probably find is that it is tricky to get even coverage as the grains keep getting pushed around when brushing (of course this could be a good thing, it will make for a random looking surface), using a trowel or piece of plastic card/cardboard might be better for application. I masked off the areas I wanted filled and then ran a blade around the edges after the paste had dried so the tape wouldn't pull off the paste. I'd say you won't be sorry you bought some, even if you do just end up using it for ground work/dirt.

Kiitos paljon, Kimmo!

It indeed looks a tad over-scale for US vehicles but looks good nonetheless on your Leo.

I haven't bought any yet but given its versatility as far as weathering and diorama use goes, I think there is not much to go wrong about here.

Cheers!

I use Tamiya Diorama Texture Paint Grit Effect Light Sand (#87122) or Pavement Effect- Dark Gray (#87115).

I find it has just the right texture for anti-slip. IMHO

Thanks, Marc! I had a look at that as well but for whatever reason it costs about 20 Euro for 100ml while the Vallejo stuff is just above 7 Euro for 200ml.

I guess both are pretty much the same, in the end...

Thanks for the hint! What exactly is embossing powder? Any brands that come to mind?

Thanks!
