Hi guys there . i ve painted my Academy M113 Vietnam version with Model Master Olive Drab. but the problem is that the colous is not looking like olive drab, looks like a khaki colour more lighter than i expected to see. I freaked out thinkin i used the wrong colour, and all these primming and preshading went to the tin. Now i am not in home and dont remember the MM number on the bottle, but it says Olive Drab 1/2 and also in the back where the barcode is is writting 34087 which is the FS equivalent for Olive Drab ( i think so ).
So is there someone that can solve me the problem. You could say look at the pictures..but some pictures show the vehicle almost blackish, and some almost light green, so ...
I d like to know if Model Master does many olive drabs and i have the wrong one , and which is the correct brand number for the olive drab i need. I believe that with all the OD specialists in here it would be a piece of cake to say to me guys.
To help i say that the bottle is brand new , the colous is in perfect condition, and with it i bought a second one which is exactly the same (so no spoiled colour there)
If there is painted sample of how the MM OD should look i would appreciate it .
Thanks a lot guys

I'm afraid that you used Olive Drab color for aircraft. Probably one of WWII Olive Drabs. Unfortunately OD for vehicles during Vietnam war was very different color. Much more green, much less brown. Quite often black paint was added to OD, what made the paint darker. One of the best OD's for Vietnam armor is Tamiya Olive Drab XF-62. I'm sure there is also Model Master paint, which is more suitable than the one you used, but I don't know the number

Costas ,
As I know there is only one OD in Testors-Model Master paint and it is number 1711 as the equivalent FS34087 or E7873.

Yes the testors isfor A/C but the FS is right, and its the right one for armour as well!!!! What I do is undercoat (preshade) black and mist on the OD and i get a nice faded look to my armor, but its still dark enough to pass for the black/green of the correct OD. the best example of this I have is on my AFVclub Hellcat. i don't have a pic yet but it'll be up on the site soon. try to preshading it may help your problem. Otherwise Tamiya would be the way to go. HTH STUG

As probably not mentioned before, i have preshaded with blackand thus the OD i am using shows much darker than it is actually in the bottle , and also as you say shows a nice sun and rain faded colour, and i thought that with all that a vehicle like that would have run through 3-4 years in battle and use would be the right one, i ve seen pics of vietnam M113's that are almost yellowish green from fading adn warbed out tottaly . Any way i am still waiting for some opinions to close the file!!!! thanks guys fro helping out , and u gave me a sunshine in this rainy and windy monday morning

I think 4728 is matt acrylic color and ANA 4842 is semi gloss/satin acryclic color..not sure...
