Wow that's awesome!!! Nice scratchbuilding.

Up until this thread I never knew this variant even existed.
I've always been amazed when I look at the old LVTs that these things actually floated, they just look so lumbering and un seaworthy

Thanks for posting this Frenchy. You can really tell the LVTE-1 version of the Taiwanese Marines as compared to the USMC version. Likely this is a late/converted version from LVTP-5 with bolt on launcher and plow rather than the pure LVTE-1 that came off production line that the USMC and Philippine Marines are using.

Hi Raphael

I see you started a build log on the LVTR1. I will give you all the support that I can.

When I did mine 10 to 12 years ago reference and detailed pictures where hard to find.

I will follow your build. I still have some details to add on mine.

I see that you are getting great support from the modeling community.

For those that do not know my work check out my web page.

Hey there. Wondering how your LVTE1 came out? Did you finish it? I want to do the same thing - I actually scratch-built one years ago - with no reference at all except that scene in Apocalypse Now. Built it way before the AFV Club LVTP5 was even out.

Anyway - don't suppose you made any casts of extra parts - for sale maybe?? I'd love to even just get a copy of those scale drawings.

Surprised a manufacturer hasn't churned out a conversion of the LVTE1 for AFV's kit. Even better would be someone kitting this series of LVTs in 1/72.

Here is the complete mounted blades on the floatation device. This is very tricky and difficult to do, you need to align it very well to look accurate as possible.

The plow/floatation device is a model on its own.
