Hello all
I've the hull fully glued but the paint I chose looks awful, too thick...and is just plain wrong!
Can you tell me the best way to strip off Tamiya acrylic without damaging the plastic?
Spraying over with the new scheme isn't really an option for me, not at the moment anyway
Thanks guys. This could make or break the weekend
Cheers!

Oven cleaner.

Spray it on liberally, put the kit in a plastic zip lock bag overnight.

Gentle scrubbing under running water with a tooth brush will take of 90%+ of the paint, then re-apply to any areas that might be a bit stubborn. I've done this to a few kits and it's been completely reliable.

Douglas, I have found nail varnish remover works on acrylic paint, including Tamiya paint. Won't harm the plastic. Apply with a cotton bud or brush, and scrub the paint off with a bristly brush, or maybe old toothbrush.

Just to let you know, this oven cleaner worked an absolute treat! And I was impressed that it left the primer coat intact
Thanks again for your help!

I have very good experiences with Dettol, you know, the brown anti-septic liquid. Paint just flies off with the gentlest of scrubbing with an old toothbrush and it smells great too!

That's one I haven't heard before, but it's got to be less caustic than the oven cleaner.

Windex (Windowlene?) glass cleaner with ammonia. Pulls Tamiya paint right off, no scrubbing. DISSOLVES the carrier and Destroys the pigment with no residue. Rinse with clear water.

I second that. Works very well!

And yes, I use actual Windex. Big jug imported from the US.
