Hi, new member here. Just found this site and love it. My Dad was CO of our local National Guard unit in 1959-62. He built a bunch of models he kept in his office. I can't for the life of me figure out who made them as I would love to find some of them to build for old times sake. He had one of what I believe was a M59 or M75, and a few period tanks. I remember the carrier had a rudimentary interior. AND, I remember that I destroyed them all. They were about what I remember as 1/32 or 1/35th scale. Any help identifying a possible maker would be greatly appreciated.

could it have been the Renwal kits of the M53 self propelled gun? they had a series in 1/32 of the Ontos, Walker Bulldog tank M-41, skysweeper, Nike Ajax, Atomic Cannon etc.... these have been re released by Revell and you can find them on Ebay

One was an Ontos for sure, and a Walker. I have found those both in the original Renwal and the reissues. The one that is giving me fits is the M59 or M75. I remember it clear as day. I used to ride in the real ones they had in his unit, and the model was his pride and joy until I "modified" it just a bit..............into tiny pieces. Now that I think of it, i wonder if it could have been a prototype model not made for resale??? My Dad has passed so I can't ask him, but that might explain his VERY loud response to my wrecking it, so much more so than when I did the same to the others? Thank you for the help!

A couple others you might check are Airfix and Monogram.

Airfix didn't have any large-scale military vehicle kits until the mid 1970s.

All those "vintage" kits looked awesome 40 - 50 yrs ago when we were kids, but they look pretty awful now! They're a dog to build with their worn-out molds, lots of clean-up, and poor fitting parts. And some of them are almost as expensive as newer and better kits of similar subjects. Sorry, can't think of anything positive about really old kits.

Try http://www.scalemates.com. You can filter search results by scale, type and year. This should help you find your kits.

Clearly no argument there, but the Renwal Atomic Annie was fun and challenging to fix up. See Wim Vink's build of it and the SPG.

That APC was likely the ITC kit of the early M113. I still have mine.

Do you remember the year it dates from? I will research that. Can you post a photo? Thank you!

Found a photo of one right here on this site. You are correct! It WAS that one, as I see the pictures here had parachutes for it to be air dropped. Bingo! All makes sense now.............after looking at the M113's I have in 1/35th, it seemed to my feeble memory that the one my Dad had was bigger. But, I chalked it up to little hands and 50+ years ago. But, I see that the ITC was a 1/24th scale kit. Awesome. Now gotta see if I can find one! THANK YOU ALL!
