Friends,
below you see two similar pictures from my cellar, one in flashlight / daylight and one that is close to the atmosphere that will be created once the diorama is finished.
No Photoshopping on these pics as it comes to lighting. The bottom picture got the light from the two small lightbulbs I installed on the dio. That atmosphere is what I'm looking for in the finished diorama....needless to say that I'm very happy with the results and the progress so far.

You nailed it! You should be very pleased!
Just a reminder, being a coal storage area I would expect that the walls behind the arches would be pretty grime, just a touch of pastels would handle that.

Scott,
A large quantity of pastels is waiting to be all over this beauty (yes.... I'm very very pleased with it so far....this one is a boost I've been needing for some time). I decided to work from back to front, so the little hallway behind the cellar / basement is done as it comes to weathering. Now I'll add some biscuit tins on the floor and some little foodcans and some leftover bread on the shelve. After that I'm gonna do the door and then I'll move to the front part of the basement.
I'll keep you posted.
NB : About that dirt from the coals : The top picture is an image of a few days ago...very clean indeed, while the lower picture already has some of the available pigments....what appears to be shadows around the coals is actually paint and no shadow... just to let you know.

Great going there Danny!
It seems you have serious carpenter skills my friend.
Everything is put together with nice detail and style. That dim lighting adds a lot to the athmosphere. When you´re finished with this, it would be great to see some kind of drawing or walk-through of the construction, how you applied the lights and so on.
You have a masterpiece in the making!
Cheers,
Toni
PS. My own RMG in on the workbench again!

I agree with slodder....Plus the floor would also be filthy with coal dust.
The lighting is spot on...no pun intended.
It's almost romantic...what dinner for two in the coal-hole?
Can't wait to see more progress pics.
