Hallo Hans,
Your walkaround for the 08 maxim is very interesting.
I have a question.Would the Turkish army at Gallipoli used a metal box for ammunition or a wooden crate.It is an obscure question ,but I plan to build a maxim 08 in 1/24 with a small crew.
Any advice would be grateful.'regards

Normally, the water jacket was painted, either black or green (like below). This one has either had the paint worn off, or (more likely) was restored and not repainted correctly. Museum peices are often restored incorrectly and not always the best referances.
