Hello,

This is my first post here...
I have seen references to the British WWII desert 2- or 3- colour schemes (sand plus 2 more colours) as the "CAUNTER" scheme.

Does anyone know the origins or derivation of the term "Caunter scheme"?

Named after its inventor I think. A quick search on the net suggests a Colonel in the British Army?

Speaking of Caunter, does anybody know if the AK set is any good accuracy wise?

Thanks.

On Saturday I am meeting modellers who know about the AK set of colors and I will ask them how good these colors are and how they behave.
Some of these guys are members of IPMS-Hellas (Greece) and experienced modellers.

I did Tamiya's 1/48 Matilda in Caunter using the LIfecolr Middle East British Vehicle Camo set and had really good results.

MODEL MILITARY INTERNATIONAL #105 (Jan 2015)has an excellent article on this scheme with patterns and colors called out for Stuarts, Matildas, Crusaders and Valentines along with 5 view drawings plus close up details and variations on the theme.

Hi, I don't use AV or Mig for mine. But I choose the dark yellow, green and "stone" scheme. I mean, don't choose the sky-blue one for the third color.

I use Tamiya dark green, dark yellow, and for the stone some sort of RLM 02 color.

Alvaro,

Your Stuart looks excellent too. The 3 colors look quite similar to Matt's Matilda above,
Thanks

Hi,
I have this article by William Marschall as a very nice reference of the Caunter Schemme.

Hope it helps.

Honeys did use the Caunter scheme--some at least. I saw some in youtube videos on the desert war and some that had it are shown during operation Crusader.
