Could we be on the verge of a rebirth of interest in British/Commonwealth armour? Today I picked this piece of news up regarding Osprey's new releases:

Osprey news Item

What with this and the forthcoming releases from Academy, maybe the bubble has burst regarding German Armour. Or not.... Jim....

This is great. Now if somebody can just come out with a decent new tooling of the Matilda we'll be in hog heaven.

I had a gift certificate to Amazon and ordered Zaloga's Modeling the Stuart from Osprey with it. It's on back order and isn't supposed to come in until late January, early February. I hope this book isn't as delayed.

George Forty is releasing a book on the 7th Armoured Division Desert Rats.

Has anyone got this yet??

Is it worth gretting??

Please let me know, after all being a British Armour fan I need all the material I can lay my hands on.

I'm pretty sure that Perth Military Modeling Society has a review of this book. As I recall it's not just about WWII but also the role the 7th played in Desert Storm.

I found the info about that Forty book on PMMS. Here is the link about it.
http://pmms.webace.com.au/reviews/books/pb/sp14.htm

This indicates it's not Osprey but Ian Allen publishing that is putting out the book. Maybe they work together, I don't know.

Hi. I think we all pretty much hope for a great birth,or maybe rebirth, of British armor, as this is a subject that has been too sorely lacking in the armor model market, both in the W.W. II and the post-war models. And even through they made nothing that became really famous till the advent of the Centurian, there are several designs out there that can make some outstanding models, each in their own right.

Take care, Sgirty

According to the thread...... I have the following information:
Osprey Modelling-4, M3/M5 Stuart.
Osprey Modelling-5, The Matilda Infantry Tank...Publication date: 25th February
Osprey Modelling-6, The Sdkfz251
Osprey Modelling-7, The IS Heavy Tanks

What were no´s 1, 2 and 3?
The four listed above would be a great purchase for me as I have quite a few kits at home that would benefit from these?

Them's fighting words to a lot of people. While British WWII tanks might not have been as good as some of the later German stuff, I would like to think the Matilda, Crusader, and such are as famous as the other models out there that have twelve different versions, from five different companies, being made into models.

And just when you all thought it was safe, I've posted up four more Osprey news articles. All we need now is someone to start doing their aircraft titles and we can have Ospreyrama....Jim #:-)

This armour/modelling series is certainly getting interesting. I'm going to write off to Osprey with some suggestions for new titles. Initially i'm going to suggest the Crusader and the Cromwell. Any one else got any suggestions?....I might even ask Jim to put a poll up on this...Jim
