Announced by the Australian minister for defence the aslav and APC m113 variants will be replaced within the next 6 years....discussion is what they could be replaced with the Bradley, stryker and various other 8 wheeled personnel carriers.
I have an idea of making a potential Aussie version of these vehicle as a potential what if...thoughts??

Stryker with the ASLAV turret would be nice....but the Stryker is not that far advanced on the LAV. Or the German Boxer with turret?

The replacement vehicle is for the reconnaissance role.
We were asked at my unit in 1999 what we would like to replace the M113 if the ASLAV was not available, so we came up with the Weasel 2. Fitted with the M242 Bushmaster Chain Gun, and Javelin for the AT version.
Light, fast, quiet, 2 man crew (as we already were), with space for Veggies, reasonable armour for the job, and above all, looks cool.

How about a Scout SV, Turreted or the Protected Mobility Reconnaissance Support (PMRS) variant.

Perhaps they will go the same route as Canada and get the Textron TAPV an upgraded M1117. It is supposed to be replacing a similar vehicle to the ASLAV, the Coyote, which the ASLAV is based on.
