An army issues its soldiers with weapons and now Dragon Models is bringing back weapons sets so you can arm your army.

I would have rather seen these brung up todate by Dragon as i believe you would have had members here hunting the sets down, that said I am sure these will still prove a popular product to have at hand.

Good news for Cold War/Modern modellers if, if Dragon extend this to their Vietnam series and the Modern MGs set - which I've been trying to hunt down over the years. Fingers crossed!

As Dragon have the separate moulds for the Gen 2 weapons sets I really don't understand why they have not marketed them as a stand alond product. Let's be honest all that would be needed is a box design.

This is great news. Saves me scouring ebay on a regular basis. The Vietnam set pops up from time to time and goes for silly money. I saw one go for about £20 a few months back. I managed to pick up the Allied set a few months ago for £8 which was a bargain seeing as it's been OOP for donkeys years. I'll invest in a few of these when they come out just in case they vanish again.

These are OK I suppose, but I'd have rather seen a set of Gen 2 weapons with straps and slings included.

I COMPLETELY AGREE WITH YOU DARREN! DRAGON could clean up the 1/35 Weapons market if they would only release separate Gen 2 Weapons kits!!! What's WRONG with those guys???

Having said that, LIVE RESIN makes some GORGEOUS Modern weapons, and some OUTSTANDING M1 Garands. If DRAGON doesn't take up the idea of releasing Gen 2 Weapons kits and/or sets of the weapons that we've been discussing here, I hope that LIVE RESIN DOES!!!

The Walther flare pistol looks like something for an interesting vignette. IMHO Dragon seems to be in somewhat of a slump. I guess they ran out of variants and can't determine how to re-tool their SmartKit line. This will make my girl happy. Spend less on models and more on jewelry.

Yeah, Dragon finally ran out of variants of every single Axis vehicle of WWll (except for short-barrel StuG's) and simply can't think of any other vehicles that should, or could, be kitted!

Great news. I had just bought the Allied weapons set not too long ago (came with 2 extra M1s, a set from a different figures set, and the mostly worthless Tamiya US weapons set. I took the pistols and few other rid bits off that as those are the only useful pieces). Now I can try to stock up!

Over several years - in face to face conversations with Dragon, (after being asked what would a sensible move for new releases), I came up with two suggestions - 1/72nd figure sets and the GEN II weapon sets released seperately.

Neither have sadly ever come to fruition.

All is however (probably) not lost. Riich model released two amazing (equally as good as Gen II) Commonwealth weapon sets. Probably at some point they'll continue the line with Axis weapons at which point, dear Axis modelers, you are in for a treat...
