I see that Voyager Models makes an aftermarket set that includes the Windbreaker active protection system for Merkava IV tanks. My question is has the Windbreaker been installed on the upgraded Merkava IID?. And, is the windbreaker the same as the Trophy system, or are they two different things?

Yes, & yes. The so called Droid is seen on the IId in recent action in Gaza, a quick Google image search will locate some good quality photos. Or, go to militaryphotos.net and see the IDF thread in the photo section.
Trophy is a separate system so far only seen on the Merkava IV. I'll have a look around for some references for you if you want. Black Dog do / are to do a trophy up date for the IV.
ET Models also do a droid, which I couldn't find an online supplier for. After a lot of looking, I've found one at aliexpress. It cost a bit more than discount retailers on the web, but after ordering one from Lucky, and waiting for over a month only to see it on back order 2-3 weeks, I cancelled the order and went via aliexpress. My usual source of all things modelling, Hobbyeasy, was sold out.
Aliexpress emailed to say the item has been shipped, so I will let you know how it works out, as I've never order from them before.
What are you seeking to model?
Kylie

Thanks, Kylie. I have the Academy Merkava IID kit. I happened to see a Merkava IV with the droid, and thought it would look cool on the Academy kit but wasn't sure if it was used on the IID. Anyway first things first, applying the non-skid texture to my tank.

You can use it on the 2D (only ever saw it on the Merkava 2D and 4) but be aware the mount is different than what any aftermarket kit gives you.

So would the Merkava 3D late LIC have the system fitted?

I'm pretty sure 3D's don't have them fitted..
