I am starting the AFV Club M548 and using the Eduard photo etch set. After cutting out the engine intake grates and replacing them with the photo etch parts, I realize that now I have a large empty hole underneath and no idea of what that area might look like. Before I start some creative gizmology I thought I might ask here if any one has any tech drawings or photographs

Actually, you should not have cut out the slats. The mesh goes over top the slats, like on this M113 below.

Hi!
This gallery shows the qrea in question from different angles.

However, the mesh looks quite different.

Well there you have it

Should be able to recover and fix it. Actually that simplifies things too. 8 years in 155 Bn and I never gave that part of a 548 a second look

Finally found some other pics and the grating is a lot more complicated than I anticipated. I did a temporary fix but think I may need to start over.

Also the cargo bed looks like it will need a lot of detail work as well. This is an Israeli version but I'll assume they will be similar. This one does not have the raised floor platform.

Your repair to the "under-grille" area looks good, and should carry the thought quite well. Nice recovery!
