Dear All...help please...
I can just see the headlines...”Fly boy clips his wings and gets stuck in the mud with the Armorama Trackies”
After seeing (and commenting on ) so many wonderful armour dios and vehicles I must admit I’m tempted...very tempted to build one. This is serious stuff.
Just for a change you understand...I’m not hanging up the flying helmet just yet.
The only armour I’ve built were some of those little Airfix tanks when I was about twelve and a 1/35th Tiger 20 or so years ago before I knew about Armorama. So you might say I’m almost an armour virgin.
I ask if anyone has any advise on what I might build for a first go.
Something straight forward and not too complicated. OTB.
Maybe something with a figure or two so I can have a go at them too.
I like WW2 stuff to end of the Korean War.
I like German and British stuff of that period.
I'm open to tanks, half-tracks etc.
Any suggestions please?...(keep it clean..this is a family show).
Many thanks in advance.
Cheers
Peter

Pete--- you finally see the light that is Armor. Congrats! I would recommend that you get the Tamiya, 1/35 scale M4 with 105mm Gun to start. It is a well fitting, relatively uncomplicated build and there is no end to how you can paint, weather and highlight it. Post you work in the Rivet Review.
Good luck.

The M4 105 is a great subject, but it might be a bit pricey for a first effort. You might look to see if you can find any of the older Tamiya tanks like the PzII, M3 Stuart, M3 Lee, (my first tank in a long while) or something under $20.That way you're not in too deep for practice. Bottom line is most any Tamiya would be a good choice for a beginer. Glad to see you're coming over to the light flitzer.

the academy tanks like the stuart are not bad either.
of course you could always go for the Tamiya GMC duece and a half kit. Add glue and paint to the box. shake well and out pops a finished truck. Besides trucks are better....lol #:-)

What is it with you Roo?, every time someone suggests building a tank, you suggest a Tamiya deuce-and-a-half....

Mrs Roo: Would you like another cup of tea, dear?
Mr Roo (for it is He!) Another slice of that excellent Tamiya 1/35th scale Tamiya 2 1/2 ton truck if you please dear.... etc., etc, etc,...Jim #:-)

Jim, I was going to say the same thing but didn't want to get accused of "posting for rank" by just posting a single word reply. Jimbrae put MrRoo right on the head with that one. LOL.

I'll vote for the M4, 105 too. But any of Tamiya's Shermans make a good build.

Here's an idea: build an M4 with a 2.5 in tow.
Just be sure to make any figures in the scene drinking coffee.

Hi, Go for most anything from Tamiya for the first go-around and I think you will be pleasantly rewarded in your kit and work. Doesn't matter what nation it's from, just pick chose the one that strikes your fancy. That's basically how I pick all my models I want to build, anyway. Just whatever hits me as neat. Doesn't matter a hill of beans what it's country of origin is, just as long as it's neat to me.
Take care, Sgirty

Definetly a tank. Nothing with an exposed interior. At least, that is my advice.

I dislike people whom built one thing, then switch to another. I myself is an exclusive german armor modeler with occasional trucks!

Sorry SS 74.
But variety is the spice of life.
Don't be so narrow minded. And what does "exclusive" armour mean...with trucks?
If you had a go at an aircraft, I would not complain...I would welcome you.
There's room for us all.

Mr Roo,
don't worry mate.
If the new kits turn out ok, I promise I'll do a non-German one.
I do like the look of a Cromwell.
Happy now? he he
Will post pics as things develop.
Cheers
Peter.
