Guys, I'm going to attempt to paint for the very first time a 120mm figure. It's an old S&T Products (Volksgrenadier/MG 42 Ardennes) which I've had for years and now I would like to finish it. I'm hoping to get some ideas how to start the painting process to completion. Priming, base color, camouflage, videos to watch online, etc. Again, any helpful suggestions, ideas (big or small) will be very much appreciative. Thank you.
Tony

That's a great figure. I'd be tempted to have go at a cheaper dragon/tamiya figure first just to get a feel for the scale. Keep us up dated.

Tony,
A really good primer is Tamiya Super fine primer. I'd start with that. Below are some helpful links. The figure you are using is considered a collectors item by some. But if it's what you want to start with have at it and have fun. Cheers, Brock

Brock,
Thanks for the info. However, I never knew it was a collectors item. I bought it at the Atlanta IPMS Nationals years ago and it's been setting in the closet since. Knowing this, and since will be my first attempt at painting 120mm I may just leave like it is. But thanks for all the info.

Tony,
Your very welcome and also welcome to the wild world of figure painting lol. Yes S&T is no more and those figures bring a good price. Just thought you'd like to save it for when your ready to really do him up right. Have fun and I hope the info helps. Also look around Verlinden 120mm figures can be found cheap and are good to practice on. Cheers, Brock

Hi Tony,
S&T had some terrific figures. I'd suggest Dragon's re-issue of their 1/16-120mm figures. I have worked on several and they are a fun build. You can locate Verlinden 1/16 size heads to add some life to the DML guys. Verlinden has some very nice resin figures for less than $20.00 at Scalehobbyist.com and some of those are very nice to work with.
I've used a variety of flat gray/flat black sprays from a local DIY store and have no problems, must wash the parts after final assembly to get rid of any release agents. Prime away and there are a number of cool vids and articles on doing large scale figs on this site and elsewhere (books and magazines). Everyone has different styles and tricks so take it slow, a good primer base and have fun.
