I just finished the double Abrams build and decided on something different.
This will be mostly straight out of the box.

Well that's the Sprue from this kit.

Here is the start of the actual build.
First off the instructions aren't clear on a lot of the assembly steps, (how & exactly where the parts go)
This build is how I built it, you may choose a different way.
I mean I an not an expert, I just like to build these.

Starting.

Glue the 2 G18 & G19 parts together & fill the seams.Then Glue them to part F2 , filling & sanding the square openings on the back of F2. Then glue F2 to the lower trailer frame using the top frame to assure the correct position.


Glue the end of H27 to H30 as shown then glue H30 to H25 don't glue H27 to H25 yet. then glue G8 to H25 keeping the angled end pointed toward H30 .

You can glue F13 to F1 now or later.
There are 2 large Pushpin marks on F1 that should be sanded down.

Repeat the previous steps with H26, H31, H28, & G8.


Above shows the assembly installed.

The instructions aren't verry clear on how the G8 parts go, this is how.

Install F11 in the end of the bottom frame angling it so the top edgr is just behind the edge of the opening.
Then glue the top & bottom together.

You can slip in the F1 / F13 assembly in from the bottom.

Note placement of F1

The top of F1 should match the top edge.

Here is H6 installed.

There are 2 spots on the bottom where F11 attaches, these will need to be filled.

There is also a small gap on the ends of F1 that will need to be built up.

Super !! I love this kit. Im looking forward to seeing how it goes. I haven't built any of the Takom kits yet, but they look well engineered and accurate.

I am wondering what's going on the bed too....

I don't know yet. I wonder who else besides the Ukranians use this beast?

You are going to need something like this to bend the Photo-Etch parts.

There are a lot of itty-bitty Photo-Etch parts for the trailer track guards. I think that's what they are called?

This finishes step 9 of the instructions'

Had to fill some sink marks on the bottom.

I'm working on the loading ramps next.

You will need G13 G20 G21 G11 & G5 for both left & right ramps.
The only difference between the ramps is for one side you use H1 H3 & H42 the other side uses H2 H4 & H41
It is important that the beveled area on H42 & H3 match up also the bevel on H41 & H4



Parts G2 G39 & G45 are the same for both ramps.

Now this is going to be fun! I'll definitely keep an eye on this blog.

I made the ramps removable for ease when painting.

There is a small curved pad that goes where the 2 openings are, I left it off until after painting because there is a red & white striped decal that goes there.

I'm not sure where the arm conected to the hinge pin goes, there is no information on the instructions.

I have been working on the goose neck part of the trailer, there are some fit problems here. I think I got it right, but the instructions contradict each other.

There is a slight angle on the ends of the first two cross members.

The winch cable guide glues only on the top edge.

If you don't have the front plate of the goose neck flush with the side frames the sole plate where the trailer hooks to the tractor will not fit right.

There are winch cable guides on the trailer, but NO WINCH ON THE TRACTOR.
If you fit the front end right, there is a gap at the back to be filled.

Looking very good. Building up like the Trumpeter trailer.

Maybe this pic might help with your transporter ramp issue (not my model, but I wish it were!) ...

I have the parts for the wheels cleaned up.
I glued a thin strip inside the outer wheel to hold the axel pin in position when the wheels are assembled.

The wheels are assembled, & Tires fitted to some.
The Tires fit pretty good by slipping over the assembled rim.

Here is the Trailer Axle Bogie.

It needs a little filling on the bottom.

I have the Trailer mostly finished.

The spare wheels aren't fastened down, that's for after the painting.

Here is a comparison between the Takom Trailer and the one from Trumpeter.

The Green one is from Trumpeter & the tan from TAKOM.
