Ok so I got into Flames of War and just purchased a couple of King Tigers and I would like to replicate this.
Onto this
I think i'm going to try the blu-tac technique but I don't know which colour to start with.
Do I paint dunkelgelb as my overall colour then do the brown and green? or should I start with my darkest colour and work my way up to dunkelgelb?
What are your thoughts?

Hi Alain,
In 15mm I'd hand paint it (but then I brush paint everything). As for which order you'd lay the colours, it depends which is to be the most predominant. I usually work lightest to dark because it makes covering easier but recently went dunkelgelb over green and that worked out ok
These Tigers were done over a dunkelgelb base.
And this Panther over a green base
Hope this helps ....

It's always been my understanding that generally you want to work from lightest to darkest. However, to use the blu-tac method for ambush camo, I would recommend a complete base coat of the red-brown so you can apply the blu-tac, then shoot the dunkelgelb, the green, and then finish again with the red-brown. That's just how I would do it. Others may prefer a different approach.

Ok those Kings look amazing. If mine turn out anywhere close to those I'll be bragging all day saturday at the store.
Quick question.....how do you paint the tracks they look great.

Thanks Alain,
I start with a brownish red base, it's a mixed colour and has a touch of both grey and blue in it.
Then drybrush steel over that, then add either wet pigments and/or dry dusty pigment, depending in the look I'm going for. Lastly I usually dyrbrush steel back over that to pick out the top layer of the track. Sound a lot but it's quite basic really.
Have a look on my blog there's better pics in many of the builds on there and flick me a PM here if you need any help ....

I recently painted this Jagdtiger from Battlefront using an airbrush and blu-tack.
I usually just start with the dunkelgelb and then green and brown, it's really just a matter of how you are masking each color off

Thanks everyone for all the pictures and techniques.
Now I just need to find the time to paint.
