Yes, there is one model by Heller. And there is a Trumpeter model that supposedly is a copy of Heller kit, so probably is best avoided.

Heller model is based on a prototype / very early production vehicle and differs significantly from vehicles currently in service with French Army. This model has some nice detail but generally on the soft side. It is rather poor kit, although with a lot of work it can be turned into a nice model. Terre Model and Blast Models from France make resin conversion sets for Heller kit, which let you build newer variants.

Just to correct what Vodnik said :
Blast Model's set is for the revell kit in 1/72nd scale.
Terre model's set is the only way to go.

You can check blast's site at : http://www.blast-models.com
They have both sets.

The easiest way to model a nice leclers is to buy the revell 1/72nd scale kit. It is the RT5 variant, which is operational, even if the most modern one is the RT6 (the set by blast)...

Heller announced a re-release of the Leclerc kit as a T.5- T.6 variant IIRC correctly.
Saw it on a French site. Will be released in early or mid 2004.

I have 2 of the Heller kits and Vodnik is right. The kits detail is on the softer side. I did, however, get the update sets from Eduard, I believe. I would gladly welcome the newer variants.

Yes, heller has announced an updated version... still, i must say people are not very optimistic about it here... given the laws of the original model... but, who knows ?
