I suggest that you research H Series MTOE (Modified Table of Organization and Equipment). These are the organization documents that the U.S. Army used in the 1970's.
I did some looking, but could not find the specific MTOE for an U.S. mechanized infantry battalion. If you have a specific question, I will look in some items I have written and my memory from back then....That was a while ago.
You'll see an M48a2 tank with markings of the 38th Infantry Division-225th Infantry regiment. I was wondering what a tank is doing in an infantry regiment and therefore i was looking for the MTO&E for it.

there are tank units assined to mechanized infantry units
Yes there are. A Mechanized Infantry Regiment usually has two Mech Infantry Bns and one Tank Bn. The same is true for a Mechanized Infantry Division. There are usually six Mech Infantry Bns and three Tank Bns in the Division.

One more question: has some clear drawings of the attachment of a dozerblade to the front of an M48 tank. I have TM 9-2590-213-15, but is does not clearly show how the hydraulic cilinders and piping are attached to the front of the tank. I know is in NOT the same as on an M60 tank.
TIA !!
