I use Vallejo Russian Green, and I add white and Ocre to lighten it for highlighting.

Mike Rinaldi recommended to me Lifecolor UA 001 Dark Green as the perfect match for Russian 4BO Green, and I have followed his lead. It's great paint and an excellent color. Add cream, light tan, or buff to lighten it. Thin it with a little distilled water and it shoots amazing!

FS34102 or FS34095 are both recommended for WW2 Russian 4BO Protective Green (the Russian specs were very loose in wartime). These colors are available from Testors Model Master as USAF colors. You can lighten with any yellow ochre (German Dunkelgelb, for instance).

Ian;
Testor's ModelMaster enamels offers a "Russian Armor Green" (don't have the bottle with me - so can't tell you the specific number). I think that it is a pretty solid general case example of the WWII base BO4 Green color, however, as others note, there was apparently some considerable variation in this color, so...!
And of course, just as others have noted, lighten, fade, modify with tans, ochre, etc.
I personally favor adding just a little ochre and brown to warm it a bit and give it a slightly more olive shading.

I have a tendency to "look past the label" on model paints, and found a few that seem to be decently close out of the bottle.
The four that I use most for Russian/Soviet greens are:
(All Model Master enamels)
(2112) Ital. Olive Green - for the early war lighter green "Protective Green"
(2081) RLM 71 - decent for 4B0
(2090) RLM 81 - Post-WWII "XB-518"
(2106) Fr. Khaki - standard green "ZIS-508"
I don't know how "authentic" they really are, but I based them on the Ammo by Mig Color Guide to Russian greens, and they look at least reasonably close to me. Given MM's "consistency", I usually don't even have to mix a paint for different vehicles of the same era - I just use another bottle.

Ian -
Not a problem
Hopefully those won't be far enough off to get you busted by the "Color Police". Let me know how it goes.
