Hi Folks

Looking for a turned metal replacement barrel for the venerable Italeri 1/35 scale M47. In my favorite online store they only have one for the M48. Wile I realize that they had different 90mm guns (M36 on the M47 and M41 on the M48), was there any difference externally or could I use the M48 barrel for the M47?

Thanks for any hints!

Which barrel do they have or the M48 ?
M48 muzzle brake looks very similar to M47

another M48 with a slighty different muzzle brake

M47 to compare with:

Thanks for your answers gentlemen.

Robin the one on the first M48 looks pretty much the same as on the M47.

The items I was looking at and which I wonder whether they would also work on an M47 are this M48A3 barrel for DML or this M48A3 barrel for Tamiya both from Orange Hobby, or this M48A3 Barrel from Voyager.

What I found on the net was that the M36 and M41 guns were similar (one being the offspring of the other), but no confirmation that they were externally the same.

Cheers!

I contemplated that same barrel replacement at one time with at least one of my M-47's. After changing my mind a few more times I'm staying with my current builds (see Armorama campaign Home Improvement for pics).

In that research I came to the conclusion that the guns between the M-47/M-48 were so similar, one would have difficulty telling them apart at a 1/35th angle (or at a contest if that is your intent). If the change took place I was contemplating, I would have bought the metal barrel for the M-48 to place on my M-47.

If I were to choose, I'd go with the M41 barrel from Hobbyeasy, file down what needs too on the muzzle brake in order to match the M-47 kit. No one will see the difference with the naked eye...it would be accurate enough for me. I'd say go for it!!

It looks as if all three replacement barrels have the "other"
muzzle brake, the one were the front and rear halves of the
"cylinder" have different lengths.
I think you can choose any of those barrels and then adjust
the muzzle brake to look like the onein the Italeri kit ...

Wait until tomorrow before you make ny decisions so that the
US based members of this Forum can react and comment

Thanks Guys, I figure the same. And since I'm not a contest guy anyway...

Cheers!
