Just been looking at some kits on ebay and came across this kit.

I have one of these.
If building it would represent an equity loss of £500, then I can't afford to build it.

Hobbysearch now lists a Tunisian Tiger coming from DML. Not sure if this is the exact version that the Cyberhobby kit is, because of the machine translation. http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/10321344

Will that new DML tiger come with just the one decal option?

We're still sorting that out. I gave DML a long list of decals that could be used, but I think they only want to include two or three options.
One thing is already settled; the kit won't include a standard "thick" mantlet. So I hunted down Tigers with the "flat" mantlet.

Is this an "out of the box" tiger 131 from dragon? If so I'm sold.

Asking £500 ($750) for a 1/35 Tiger 1 kit is one thing and getting it is quite another! I think this particular seller has periodically been touting this kit at silly prices for some time now.
That said, they only have to get lucky once with a punter who 'has to have it irrespective' don't they.

A recent auction from Ebay, DAK Tiger sold for 400 Euros. The auction starting price was 1 Euro!!!!
It was on my watch list, but far beyond my budget limit

I guess my only question is why bother paying those insane prices when there is a very good DAK Tiger conversion available from Tiger Models for around 60 USD. Buy that, plus the Dragon early Tiger, plus a decent set of photo-etch and perhaps some individual track links. Add to that Star Decals DAK Tiger set, and you get at least what is included in the CyberHobby kit, at a fraction of the price - or am I missing something? :-)
I personally see no need for the Cyberhobby kit, but then again I am no Tiger expert, so perhaps the kit includes something extra special that you can't get anywhere else?

The TMD conversion looks very good. But I wonder why it boasts "final drive armor w/o cut-outs at top" when all of these tanks HAD the cutouts?
Anyway that's a tiny detail. Star Decals have a bigger problem; they give us turret numbers filled with red. I believe the real ones were filled with black.

I believe it's the more recent Initial Tiger I (kit #6600) that's best suited to a Tunisian Tiger conversion, not the early (Cyber-Hobby #9142) Tiger, but David will correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure one needs the entire TMD conversion kit, either; the early Feifel set, which costs just $20, is essential though. I also bought the Voyager PE set, which includes some resin bits and metal cleaning rods, etc. I think all I need now is the Star Decals set.

newTMD is referring to MMiR Modeler's Guide tot he Tiger Tank, pg. 35, Fig. 1C as a reference for the Oct `42 drive armor version.
Just checked and the Vorpanzer cut-out is clearly missing in the book.
The D6600 kit`s drive armor has the cut-out by default.

Perfect, and bravo! Now when people ask how to build 131 it won't require a laundry list
