I have a question concerning enamel clear coats: after painting and filtering a model I want to put a clear coat on it to save what I've done so far. If I put a flat enamel coat on and let it thoroughly dry (several days) so that it is REALLY dry and then I start to work on it with thinned down wash-like oil colors... does the clear coat get affected, i.e. is the new oil color or turpentine etching through the coat?

I would always suggest a coat of acrylic clear before working with oils and enamels for weathering. If I am weathering with acrylics or waterbased, ie True Earth, then I will use a coat of enamel clear. While you may be all right, for me I like to be safe.
