Did they use M4A1's in the pacific as flamethrowing tanks? Or was that a later version?

Do I need to do anything to my existing kit? Its the Italeri M4A1 w/ 76mm gun. If I need to add anything to it or put something on it let me know.
Thanks!

I can't find much conclusive evidence that M4A1-based flame tanks served in the Pacific, but it would not surprise me. Ken: I've always understood that the Marines on got the M4A2 and the M4A3 -- all pics I have of M4A1s in the Pacific belong to the Army.
I also know that there weren't any M4A1 76mm tanks used in the Pacific. The 75mm was preferred, especially for the bunker-busting effectiveness of the HE (high explosive) round. The most-used variant of flame tank in the Pacific was probably the POA-CWS-H1, based on the M4 composite (this tank is an option available in the rather rare DML IC Firefly kit). Again, these were only in Army unts. FYI, the M4 composite hull had a cast front, like the M4A1, but the rear 2/3 was welded, like the M4 and other Shermans.

Chip, uhhh...errrr, ooops! I deleted my earlier post. I hope you did not try to convert your tank yet.
I plead the 5th. I completely misread my notes last night. What I thought was read as M4A1 Flamethowers was in fact M1A1 Flamethowers. Sorry.
Thanks for the correction Bob.

Here you have a link that may help you. I believe there were not M4A1 (big hatches) as Flamethrowers.
