Will they work with Dragon's kits? Easier than drilling out the lightening holes

I have several of Slingshots conversion kits. And the casting has been first rate. And further more Slingshot ships fast and responds quick to emails.

I am more interested in seeing if they actually fit the Academy M48A5 with the wider AFV Club tracks mentioned (T92E and T142). The Academy M48A5 has narrower tracks and sprockets because the fenders were narrowed to fit the side skirts, which attach incorrectly. I doubt the wider tracks will fit under the narrow fenders.

On M48s, the track end connectors extend slightly beyond the fenders, that would make fitting the skirts impossible.
On ROK M48A5s, there is a spacer that extends from the side of the fender to make room for the side skirts to clear the tracks. You can see the extensions at the edges of the fenders where a small piece sticks down below the original fender line.
For some reason, instead of adding the spacers to the fenders, Academy added the side skirts and kept the overall width of the fenders the same, so the tracks and sprockets had to be narrowed to fit under the side skirts.

Would these also be appropriate for the new 1/35 Revell M48A2c? The sprocket interiors on that kit are marred by large sink holes and poor bolt detail (at least on my copy).

DEF Models makes a set of replacement M48 outer sprockets that should fit any of the current 1/35 kits. They look really nice too.
The set was reviewed here at Armorama a while ago.
Also, DEF Models has sets of T97E2 and T142 track that include resin sprockets and AFV Club indi-link tracks.

Those DEF model items look pretty good, but why is the outer cast in frosted clear resin then the real think was obviously opaque?

Does it really matter since it will be painted anyways? I could care less if it was pink w/purple polka-dots.
Seriously, I think it is because they are 3-D printed. A clear, frosted finish is the norm for 3-D printing.

My guess is they cast one in clear so we could see through it, or perhaps it is a 3D-printed "master" from which the rubber moulds will be made? (Those white rear doors look like Evergreen plastic, perhaps also masters for mould-making?) Either way, adding paint will soon hide the resin!

its a master shot, the one you get is resin cast ( i have the def sprocket set for dragon )

you are right,they will not work on a Korean M48A5K.
Thank God,the rest of the nations does not use side skirts on their M48's or M60's!

Agreed, I'm normally a big fan of DEF's but in this case Slingshot Models is much more flexible, I don't need rear grilles or tracks, half sprockets are kind of useless unless you want to upgrade a Dragon M48A3.
