Here's Verlinden's 120mm "bridge too far" in progress.
Curious on your thoughts on the Dennison smock patterm. I haven't done shading or highlighting and will dull/blend the colors with tan/buff drybrushing.
Head is also pretty much done....

Least:
Thanks. The figures are from Verlinden in 1/16th (120MM) scale and are in resin.
Since these photos were taken I have blended and added shadows to the dennison smock and I'm much happier with it than you what see it here in it's raw form.
I t took me a little while to get going on these guys but now I can't stop!

Me like, especially the face, but i think you should take into consideration, that the camo smock was made from printed fabric so colored patces would not cross eg. a zipper or from the sleve onto the chest etc.
Otherwise, nice!

Nate:
This is looking awesome! I really love the cammo and I think you did an excellent job on the head! I love that he is looking to the left. Subtle changes to things like the direction of the eyes really can add a nice touch to the overall scene.
I know what you mean about not being able to stop. I get like that too with some figures. Keep us posted. I love it so far.

Nate,
this camouflage looks fantastic for a raw pattern (without shading, blending and highlighting).... could you tell us more about how you did it.....
- What colors did you use
- in what order did you paint them
- what brush did you use (round / flat, big / small)
We had a topic this morning in the Dutch section. In this topic Penkala shouted for help on these Denisons Smocks..... I think you can help us out by telling a bit more here

Danny:
No problem, I've alwats sorta stayed away from this camo as it looked tough. I had no real plan of attack coming into it, I just did it. I know a few builders were looking for some help on this, so hopefully this gives them some ideas. Feel free to PM or e-mail if you ned to.
All the colors are from Tamiya (acrylic). This is also order in which I applied the colors:
1) the base coat is NATO green with a little while mixed in.
2) I added radom pacthes of Dark Yello (XF-60), making sure to leave some little whisps at some of the edges of the blotches
3) The last color is red brown (XF-64) again applied in a random, whispy fashion. I used a small mid-sized brush for the application, sorry I don't know what number!!! It was a round brush however.
The photos are a little murky and it actaully looks a little crisper in person. But I'm not going out side to shoot this in 2 F weather)
1A) From there I gave the entire uniform a light dry brushing with Testors acryl "sand." At this point I liked the way it was looking but felt the camo colors still had too much "color."
1B)So I gave the whole smock a very light drybrushing of the base color (NATO green). I feel on any camo uniform a late drybrushing of the base color helps blend things a little buit.
1C) At this point I panted the web gear and then hit the recesses was a raw umber wash. Needless to say this guy is still in progress (see photos below).
MOX: Thanks for reminind me I have to get the zippers painted yet today!!!
John: Good to see you back on the prowl, I went MIA for a while and was wonder if you did the same!!

Nate,
I noticed on the first pics, that your painting surface is nice and smooth.... did you paint the Tamiya Acrylics or did you use 'm right out of the jar ? I find, that when I use em right out of the jar, that I always get stripes....is there a secret here ?

All the paints are right out of the jar. I see alot of people on this forum and others that have issues when using tamiya paint for dry brushing, I've never had that problem. I don't know if it's luck of the draw, the brushes I use or what.
When putting this stuff on using a brush I usually apply pretty heavy and it will dry smooth.
Just a few additions/clarifications: the red brown in the unifmorm is actually Tamiya "NATO Brown" but red brown is pretty much the same color.
And it's 3/0 brush I was using ....

Gray:
that is correct, the figure has the correct patches etc. for the wounded figure. I however,, have sanded that off and will make my own decals for the patches.
I was going to look earlier today for the knife, I'm not sure if that's in the kit. Next time I'm down there I'll take a peek.
I'm painting the wounded figure with a hodgepode mix of colors mixed from Testors dark tan, tamiya flat earth and tamiya flat white. I'll post some more pics in the next day or two.

Wolf:
The knife is missing from the kit (as in it's not part of the kit). I don't plan on adding it either.
Anders:
It will be a simple, small, base with street scene with a section of ruined building behind them. I'm using one of the sections from the OOP Verlinden ruined buidling set.

honestly the position of the knife doesnt look realistic in the drawing and better not to add it :-)
