Jack - the tiles were simply black plastic card cut to shape, drilled and fixed with superglue, the nails made of lead wire.
The peeling paint was achieved by priming the kit, weathering the primer then over spraying with off white, as this was nearly dried I used masking tape on the end of my finger to remove parts of the paint.

There is a whole lot about this to love, it came out great. Your peeling paint is absolutely spot on, looks exactly like the paint on the retaining wall near our driveway (which is on SWMBO's list of things for me to fix)... Really good work!!
