Finally the CV9035 from Hobbyboss arrived at my desk
I have been waiting for this since 2007!!

Details are crisp and plenty... Even the GPS antenna are in place.
I will try to compare it with the factory drawings and the real thing in the workshop

Please feel free to share your comments about this Swidish vehicle

Hopefully this will be the only mistake in this kit.

Hi Jason,

This model will build into a Danish vehicle and has several similarities to the Dutch version even though they are not identical.

Hobbyboss's box-top text.. well.. leaves something to be desired. It's wrong both in spelling and nationality.. haha.

The Swedes use other versions (the first two releases by Hobbyboss CV9040B and 9040C and Academy's CV9040B are available as models).

Norway uses yet another version (CV 9030 as released previously by Hobbyboss).

Hope that helps :-)

One of the best books on the CV90 (IMHO) is the Swedish Armour Historical Society's book as linked here:

http://www.sphf.se/CV90%20bok%20E.htm

It covers all/most currently existing variants of the vehicle, Swedish as well as export. I can highly recommend it (no I don't get paid for saying that :-) ).

Sven,
how does the book compare to the Tankograd one?

The kit looks good so far.
I have been comparing it with factory drawings and the real thing, and haven't found any major issues yet.

The muzzle programmer are hollow, so that people don't have to use pinwise.... nice !!

Hi Olivier,

I must admit I do not own the Tankograd one yet, so have not read it in detail, so my comment about the SPHF book being the best could be unfounded and a little bias, sorry about that. Tankograd has published two books, and no doubt they are excellent as always.

The SPHF book includes scale drawings, colour plates and a lot of information on the different Swedish variants and export versions, it feels very complete in its execution.

Hope I did not misslead anyone, but you can't go wrong with this book.

Per, really excited to follow this build!

Cheers,
Sven

Thanks for the quick answer Sven,
I just realized the Tankograd book only deals with the Swedish variants. So the book you recommend can be a good option for foreign variants.

My pleasure Olivier,

Tankograd have actually released two books, one is about the Swedish vehicles the other about export versions, so I believe that Tankograd have most variants well covered as well :-)

Cheers,
Sven

There is one basic error in the previous CV90 versions from HobbyBoss.
The road wheels should be offset.
This is not very visible (unless you know about it and
turn the model upside down ....).
It can be corrected if you think it is absolutely neessary
but this could be "overkill" since it isn't very obvious ...

See this review/build of the 9040C:
http://www.plasticwarfare.se/2012/03/hobbyboss-strf-9040c-review/
Academys kit is correct in this area and has a little
better details but it has other faults ....

I agree with you, Robin, unless you have your eyes mounted on long posts so you can see both sides of the vehicle at the same time (or, as you say, if you intend to display the model laying upside-down or on its side) this fault is more of a "nuisance" than a real show-stopper.

I've recieved mine to day - and mand, have I been waiting for this!
I'm also really satisfied with this kit. It's really up to today's standard of the industry.
There is, however, one disappointment - the road wheels them selves. They have a very odd pattern? No Danish road wheels look like this;I have hundreds of photoes of the Danish CV9035 and I've none with this pattern. I've even gone through Swedish ArmorHistorical Society's book on the CV90 family and found no wheels with this pattern? So what happened?
It's not a disaster though, the pattern is raised and can be sand down easily, although time consuming.

In a previous post it’s been pointed out that Hobby Boss’ undercarriage is symmetrical positioned whereas it should rightfully be a-symmetrical. It has been suggested that a simple swap between Academy and the Hobby Boss might solve this problem.
In the pictures below it’s apparent that this is not the case:

Hobby Boss’ part is below and is bigger than the Academy one. This becomes even more apparently when the two parts are resembled together with the top part:

This IS logical though. According to my references the CV9035 is some 3ocm longer than the CV9040B – making it almost a cm in scale.
The question is, however, will this issue with be noticed???

Thats GOOD news !!! My comment assumed that HB hadn't changed the lower hull snce their first kits.
It wasn't your mistake, you were mislead by my assumption
