Hello,
I was wondering what is the color of the part with a white cross when the vehicle is in sand color like in Mali.
I found just one pic with a rear view but this part is not present.

The convoy crosses were not mounted for the trip to Mali, no need to drive in convoy there I guess. In general: for vehicles in sand colour, I have seen them repainted in sand colour, but sometimes they kept the green (cross is always white)

Many thanks Mat. And I didn't know this part was simply a visual mark for convoy.
Greg, I've found a few here.

there is a small light in the middle that illuminates the white cross, that's how it works

Another question,
Is this rack for the M2 ammunitions boxes or the MAG58 ammunitions boxes ?

Hi Alex,
the device is called Leitkreuz or guidance cross. It`s is made of green rubber with a white cross and a light in the center. It wouldn`t be overpainted since colors don`t stick to well on the rubber.

Thank you frenchy,
I've found this walkaround a few time ago but I am not sure about those boxes if they are for M2 or MAG 58.
How can you tell the difference between the MAG 58 ammo box and M2 ammo box ?

On the pictured Fennek, the MAG 58 is apparently fed by two "standard" 7.62 ammo boxes similar to this one :

so my guess is that the larger boxes seen in the rack are for the .50 cal MG.
Here are the two types side by side :
