I'vee been making progress on my coverup diorama, and wanted to ask a question on the rules before thinking I've met the objectives...
In short, the scene is of a Soviet IS-3M depicted in the streets of Budapest in 1956. To model the fortification, I'm going to have a doorway that has been partially bricked over, as per a photo I scrounged from the net. The tank will be grinding a Hungarian flag into the street to depict the xfactor, as well as the whole overall mood of the scene. No figures are being planned.
So, will the partly bricked over doorway count, or do I need to throw in some weapons (I'd rather not)?
Thanks,
Mika

I'm not sure but it was my interpretation that you had to have a bunker or pit below ground level. I'm not sure if piling bricks and rubble counts unless it is along the edges of a hole/trench/pit in the ground

Hi MadMeex. The subject of your dio is the IS-3M, and your cover-up is a bricked doorway ....... How does the bricked doorway provide cover for your subject?
This is what I read from your post. If on the other hand you had a figure taking cover from behind the wall ... it would work.

Looking over the rules, it didn't seem to say that you had to have anything in cover - just that you had to have cover of some kind.
I was wondering if the bricked up area would be enough, or if I needed an improvised weapons pit.

Hey Madmeex
From the Cover-Up Campaign Mission.
Rule #1 The diorama must have trench, weapons pit, foxhole, gun emplacement or
even a dug in tank.
So a partially bricked in doorway does not seem to fall into any of these categories. It would be my interpretation that your idea would not qualify.

I think ShermiesRule is right , but i think is easy enough to upgrade to a gun emplacement or some kind of technical or physical fortification so that u r ok with the rules

If you look at some archive pictures of the uprising, i'm not so sure you will find much on actual 'bunkers' or fortifications used by the insurgents, rather the nature of the uprising would have been more in the lines of hastily thrown up barriers... I hate to say it, but you seem to have boved yourself into a corner a little bit..... It's a real pity as this kind of diorama is all too rarely seen, a truly fascinating subject for the diorama builder. I wish you all the luck in the world in resolving this....Jim
P.S. as I am not participating in this, I feel I can comment neutrally. The original idea of this campaign was clearly involving military fortifications of some kind. ...
