I don't think they can as I beleive they are a little longer. I know that the rear plate on a Challenger 1 near the sprocket is longer than on a Chieftain. It's possible that would mean the mounting point is in a different position, and if that is the case the other plates mounting points may have been moved. Also on a Challenger 1 there is a foot hole cut in the plate below the engine decks to give easier climbing access. Chieftain plates don't have any foot holes. If you compare the pic below with the one of the Chieftain from your post ref the barrel you will see the difference.

Hey buddy I have a spare set of challanger 1 side skirts off my mk 3 you can have if you want them.they are the standard side skirts as per the pic above. Pm me if you want them bud.
