I have just ordered meng models newest panzerhaubitze 2000 and i would like to build a diorama with this kit used in afghanistan so i wounder how the germans did use the panzerhaubitze 2000 in afghanistan. Was they always stationed at the main base or did they used them on OP base also?
I would like to use these
http://www.accurate-armour.com/ShowProduct.cfm?manufacturer=0&category=4&subcategory=276&product=1959
It's the hesco barriers, can i use them if they are stationed on OP outside the main base? As i assume you dont use this veichle in patrols? Right?
I have seen photos that they use it around the veichle when they are stationed at the main base but then you need to buy so many ( almost 80-90 of them) of the Hesco so i wounder if they use it on smaller OP base you dont need so many of them....
Thankful if someone have a photo or so...
Thanks in advance

Can't help you with the way the German used their PzH 2000's in Afghanistan, but maybe you could build a Dutch one to save on Hesco stuff :

Just add a Flatrack

Hi Roger,
unfortunatly the guns were permanently staioned inside the firebases of the German Feldlager of Mazar-iSharif. As for the HESCO bastions, I used photos and came up to 150 (!) per position. Count 12 wide and 15 long, 2 high and 2 thick walls makes 152 Bastions. Sigh, we definitly need some Super Value Bastion set!
Cheers

Hans-Hermann or someone else ;-), do you know what size it can be on the Hesco Bastions? I saw pro art models have one set with 6 bastions in it with the size that is 1meter x 1 meter high, do you think that can be correct?

Hi Roger,
found this on Google.
https://www.google.de/search?q=pzh+2000+afghanistan&biw=1440&bih=714&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ei=iwCQVZSGNsH9UPiKi5gK&sqi=2&ved=0CAYQ_AUoAQ
Maybe this will help you determine the size of the position.

All you need to know about Hesco bastions is here :

http://www.hesco.com/products/defensive-barriers/standard-mil-units

You can even download the spec sheets from there.

You can find info about the mesh used for Hesco bastions on page 22 of this pdf brochure :
