I think there is another downside; they have no destributors mentioned at their website nor do they offer any sale themselves. How can one buy their products?

Yeah, it is a struggle to find their products. I have bought them before from this Belgian shop here (great service):

I think the RMG barbed wire is easily the best there is - so wouldn't be surprised if the tow cables are equally a good quality product.

SHipping to California. 44 Euros. Six items. All cables. Would fit in a padded envelope. I can live without them, no matter how good they look (and they do).

Jean contacted me immediately. The web page and shipping computations are incorrect and he is attempting to correct them. The main page now has a note to contact him about shipping costs.
Shipping is 8,50 euro for the packet I described in my previous post. Yes I am ordering the cables and typewriter.

Received an email from Jean at LaMaquette and Ricardo at RMG.
Jean sent me a corrected invoice. Ricardo also responded immediately and noted that he has the cables available for shipment.
All in all both men are very professional, friendly and willing to answer questions and solve problems immediately and deserve our support.

I am very satisfied with the performance of both parties. THere are times suppliers get pilloried by forum members. Some deserved, some not. Smooth transactions are the norm and we seldom hear about good service. It's come to be expected. It's when a problem occurs and how it is handled displays the character and quality of the business.
Jean at LaMaquette deserves kudos for the way he handled my transaction. He recalculated the shipping cost and sent an invoice immediately. Within minutes of receiving my payment he sent shipping confirmation and a second apology for the glitch in his system. Couldn't ask for better service.
THe cost of shipping was very reasonable. Read: inexpensive.
And..... it was not a monster order. Only around 20 Euro.

I have shared some very nice email with Ricardo at RMG as well. I have two sets of the M1A1/M1A2 tow cables on the way for $16 US after the shipping. Like you say, I have to see them for myself. Thank you for the contact Darren!

I received the cables yesterday. Transit time to Northern Ca. was about what I expected.
The cables are VERY nice. THey have a left hand twist (facing the end). SInce they are copper they hold the shape you bend them into. There is no spring back. Very easy to do figure eight loops over bumpers or through shackles. Same for tight loops.
Putting a kink in them duplicates kinking in the real world. Unfrazzling the ends and unwinding a couple of strands duplicates a cable broken by overstressing.
THey take paint very well. I used Tamiya gray black and over painted it with enamel track rust to very nice effect. MM metalizer gun metal looks pretty nice also. Shadow black and Model AIr natural steel woks well too. Any of the rust colors from prepared to home brewed will look good. The assortment of sizes makes for lots of applications.
FInal thought: Worth the wait. Worth the money.
