Hello all!

Has anyone else had problems with Vallejo Water Effect not clearing up as it dries. I know that you're supposed to be able to put this stuff on pretty thick and it should go crystal clear in 24 hours. I have a 1/16th inch wave that is still milky white after 48.

Any suggestions?

This was my first experience with Water effects:

It cracked, even though the layer was pretty thin.

I've only used it in tiny amounts and never had any problems. The only thing that comes to mind is that the underlying material/paint hasn't cured and is giving off fumes or maybe humidity.

Marcos, OUCH! Thankfully, nothing cracked on mine, but it certainly isn't getting any clearer.

Kimmo: I hadn't considered that the unerlaying stuff wasn't 100% dry. It had been humid here and maybe the 24 hours wasn't enough. The under surface may still have been gassing out.

I've never used Vallejo's Water Effects, though I have tried the german firm Noch's equivalent, and it also stayed milky white for about a week after I applied it on a diorama.

I just use artist's gloss acrylic gel (thick for forming waves, or thin for smooth glossy surfaces). Much, much cheaper, and pretty much the same product.
