Hi There,
I'm fairly new to armour having only built a couple of kits. I'm mainly a figure model and decided to branch out a bit into armour and A/C. I have the Academy Merakava MK III and was looking for some pointers.
What is a good paint scheme for the kit? I know is its not 100% accurate but I do have an Eduard photo etch for it. Being a figure modeller I will be putting figures with it. I know this is general but I would welcome any advice.
Cheers
Ray

The kit is indeed very inaccurate and I think the only available authentic color scheme for Merkavas is overall sand-grey. But as the kit is not accurate anyway, you may just build your model as "what if" project and use your imagination for a colorful camouflage!
For example I wonder how would Merkava look in standard 3-color NATO camouflage?...

Pawel

No, I think it represents early production Merkava I and is actually quite accurate.
Also Academy Merkava II is reasonably accurate.
Only their Merkava III is really inaccurate, as it was based on very early prototype and even this was not faithfully reproduced...

Don't know about the paint scheme or accuracy problems, but you might want to watch out for the ball-and-chain things that go under the bustle. A lot of them are too long, and if you don't cut them, they can get caught on the tank body and prevent the turret from facing forward... this happened to me...
