Hello I have come across a big question of if anybody ever got rid of old tube glue from their models, I found a box in the attic of models some 40 years old, and most of the tube glue fell apart on them just as soon as you touch them. I don't know if back then they even had any better then tube glue, but it sure is a mess now, but I was hoping to take them apart and reglue them with liquid they have now, and my question is does anybody know of any better way to get it off then X-Acto? I thank you for your answers if anbody can help me.

I too took apart a couple of models done with tube glue. I used oven cleaner to strip the paint and this also loosened the glue. The harder bits I put the knife tip uner and levered them a little and they normally popped apart. Any extra glue on flat parts was then sanded as were all joints to reglue.

Thankyou Mr. Roo, when I got to town next month I'll pick up a can and give it a try.

I never tried it but I also heard that if you freeze the model the bonds "break" easier. Like I said, I never tried it but it does sound somewhat logical.
