Hi Gang,
I might be opening a can of worms with this, but is there a decent walkaround of the Land Rover 109 Series III on the net?
I bought me the "new" RoG Landy kit and need some inspirations for my build. It looks like that one of the most used miltiary vehicles in the world has simply being forgotten by major plastic companies and the AM industry.
TIA

I agree - it would be great to see some more aftermarket decals and conversion sets for this vehicle, which has served in so many conflicts. Good luck with your project.

All is not lost!
Whilst I'm not too sure about references, there are a number of accessories which will enable you to ring the changes such as those produced by DJ Parkins under the Firing Line banner:
https://www.djparkins.com/home.php?cat=296
('Hope this works)
Apart from British Army service throughout the Cold War (and I well remember my own steed during my service at Formation HQs) I recall it was used by NATO HQs such as that of Northern Army Group; there we used a version as per the original Italeri model (subsequently taken over by Revell) with clear panels in the canopy and US "Jeep" type trailers - albeit brought up to date with more modern lighting etc.
The scope for ringing the changes on the modelling table are endless.
Sorry I can't help with any specific references save my own memory (!)

Hans Hermann, there are several general military land rover books, I'll try and make a list.
Check out Accurate Armour's site too, they make some great resin wheels (sand tyre and regular tyre), plus a trailer.
Firing Line stuff is good too, lots of PE, but the wheels are white metal.
Cheers,
Christophe

Actually, I got quite a fair number of photos just by doing a Google Image search for "military Land Rover." Many were Defender 110" models, but quite a fair number of Series III 109" versions appear as well.
These were bought during the 1970's, which is when the Italeri kit was tooled. Originally, this kit was issued as a left-hand drive version, which seemed odd, but it turns out that the British Army of the Rhine often bought its Rovers from German dealers, and left-hand drive was safer on German roads. Italeri did kit a right-hand drive interior for its Paratroop/SAS version, and this new rerelease appears to mix and match molds to offer a plain vanilla 109" soft top British military vehicle with right-hand drive.
