I would like to know how is the schurtzen attached to the side railing for the Panzer IV J? Do they have hooks on the schurtzen that the panzer crews hook them on to the railings?

There were 2 different systems for shutzen on the J but I suppose we are talking about the armor plate and not the mesh screens seen on later models...you are right about that... They were only held on by U shaped handles that went over the triangular supports...The only thing that held them there was the weight of the armor plate ,but at least if they got snagged they didn't rip everything off ,only that panel ...hth

Hi,

If it's the Thomaschild (wire mesh aprons) on Panzer IV J (late) you have several photos at the PanzerDiesel site.

Hey thank you guys for the information. Yes, I am using the armor plating for the schurtzen not the screen mesh.
