Not really new, pictures of it have been popping up online then quickly disappearing for the last few years. Its just finally been declassified. Pretty cool track for sure, I could see Dragon exploiting their M48 hull to give a passable model of this one.

With as heavily modified as that vehicle is, it doesn't look like there's much Magach left. I don't think it will matter if the company in question has a Magach or not.

If you'll look hard enough you'll see it has an M60A1 turret btw

It is based on the M48 type Magach, not the M60 type. Check out the M48 fenders.

....and the characteristic roundness of the front hull.
As far as the origin of the turret, I would bet that it's a totally fabricated unit, with maybe nothing from the M48 turret. The placement, shape and relative height of the two visible crew hatches in the turret strongly suggest this, to me at least.

Look at the joint of the turret and the hull and you'll see the M60A1 shape:

and for comparison:

The Magach 7 (or at least some of them) we're M60 hull with M48 turret so this kind of hybrid Patton is no stranger to the IDF.

The turret is looking like completely new type, not a rebuilt M60/M48. Magach 7 never had M48 turret, these tanks were built on the early M60 "Slick" tanks with smaller turret. These turrets are very similar, but no the same.

If it is what I think it is, it is based off the Magach 7. Gun is a phoney. It is armed with AT missiles in the rear half of the turret. I heard it reff
ered to as a tank hunter.

the M48 and M60 used by Isreal were called Magach

M48A1: Magach 1
M48A2: Magach 2
M48A3: Magach 3
M48A5: Magach 5
M60A0: Magach 6
M60A1 and M60A3 :Magach7
And that vehicle is a major modification of the Magach5

Nick,
All M60 series tanks are identified as Magach 6

The M60 tank is the Magach 6 Resh, while the M60A1 was the Magach 6 Alef and the M60A3 was the Magach 6 Bet... There are a whole lot more Magach 6 variants based on new fire control systems and other upgrades.

The Magach 7 series are M60 tanks that feature engine, fire control and hull/turret armor package upgrades.

FWIW

As stated almost a year ago, it is an M48 hull, most likely an M48A5, based on the headlights, so a Magach 5. It is definitely not an M60 hull.

More info on it here.

It is best to actually read the previous posts as opposed to replying blindly to a post that is almost a year old.

My, my. 'Twould appear someone forgot their Metamucil this morning. Snarkiness is not required. I was commenting on something I remember seeing months ago. Not all are blessed with total recall of every event that happened since the big bang.

Not trying to be snarky at all, just stating the facts. Giving incorrect, contradictory info tends to confuse people and make things worse in the long run.

My only point was that posting blindly to an old thread usually ends badly. Take a minute to read it before posting. In the end, everyone benefits from your minute or two of pre-reading.
