Will the DEF Model wheels DW30010 for the Hobby Boss kit fit the older Tamiya kit? Tried emailing DEF Model but no reply.

I wouldn't expect them to simply cement on in place of the Tamiya kit parts, given as they are made to replace the Hobby Boss wheels, and HB wheels have somewhat different parts-arrangements for the hubs and brake-drums than do the Tamiya wheels... But with probably only very minor surgery, I think they should fit right into the spaces available.

I'll bet that they will look pretty nice with only a small amount of fiddle effort.

Bill, the answer is yes, but not if you plan on anybody getting a good look at the underside (the Tamiya kit isn't strong on detail underneath anyway, so not really a problem IMHO). I used them on my Tamiya 222. The suspensions on the two kits are quite different, so some modifications will be needed in order to get them on. It was a while ago so unfortunately I don't recall exactly what I had to do, but I do know it wasn't difficult. I think it was mainly cutting off the pins that would have gone into the holes on the original wheels and trimming down the hubs so that the inside rims on the resin wheels could seat snugly on them.



The DEF wheels are a huge improvement over the Tamiya wheels. While you're at it, you may also want to scratch some new mudflaps and jerry can holders.
