I picked up the Trumpeter German 8.8cm Flak 18 Selbstfahrlafette "Bunkerknacker" kit (#1585), and of course the front wheels are vinyl. Given the complexity of searching most vendor databases for Sd.Kfz.8, I was hoping someone can point me to some resin AM tires/wheels?

Also, is there any PE for this kit I should be aware of, other than tool handles, etc.?

Bill,
I used the Tank Workshop sdkfz 7 wheels. They are a hair smaller than the kit wheels, but fit fine. HTH.

Georg

Thanks, Georg, I'm concerned about the accuracy of the kit wheels, as photos I have seen of other Sd.Kfz.8s (admittedly later in the war) show a solid front wheel and not the spoked one of the Sd.Kfz.7. Just making sure I don't introduce an obvious error into the build.

Frenchy? Do you have any comparison photos of the two front ends? The "Bunkerknacker" kit is one of only a handful of vehicles built prior to the campaign in Poland.

Bill,
Here's a side shot of the vehicle that Horst found. As you can see, it has the open spokes. More importantly, it has no front brakes!

Here's the Tank Workshop wheels:

Really, this thing does not need much. It's pretty spectacular on its own!

Georg

Now someone over on Missing Lynx is complaining about the front end being inaccurate. Anyone know anything about that?
