I am sure some of you have already noted the addition of a Language selector on the new topic page. I am going to attempt something that no other (that I am aware of) forum has done till now. That being make all topics indicate what language they were started in. This will allow me to do some pretty fun stuff down the road.
So don't get silly and start putting "Bengali" as the language, because at some point your topic may just vanish from the site (unless you select to view all topics in "Bengali".)
This will also mean the eventual dismantling of our foreign language forums. WHAT! ACK! you say? Not to worry. This will be the plan. All topics that exist in those forum now will be reassigned to "General Modeling". Future posts will all work within the framework of the forum now except that Portuguese topics in Armor will show up in armor, Aircraft in aircraft, etc.
Yes I know this will mean that the posts will be a bit scarce and spread out. But in time I think this is the best solution to making the site truly multi-lingual. Keep in mind though that most of the regular users of the site find posts via the Latest Posts page so I doubt this will really affect us that much.
Some of the other options I will try to make available will be:
1. The ability to select any language in the dropdown to filter the results in the forum to that language.
2. The ability to set All languages or even multiple languages so that you can run the site in whatever "user interface" you chose and the forum will show you all languges you can read (example: show english, dutch, german topics).
3. The ability to have the forum titles and descriptions translated into the primary languges the site has interfaces for (eng, dutch, portutuese, russian, swedish, and spanish).
4. All this makes it MUCH easier to add future interface languages down the road. (french? polish? italian?)
Cheers,
Jim

Matt...lol
Actually I forgot to add one of the most important reasons I was posting that.
If you are using a non-English interface and want to post something in English make sure you set the language selector as it will default to the language you have set for the site interface. The same is true if you have English as the default interface and you want to post a new topic in Spansh, etc.
Thanks,
Jim

What, you mean everybody doesn't have to speak the "King's English?" Seriously Jim this is one of the things I love about this site, how truly international it is.
Do you ever sleep? You're always adding things to what is already a pretty neat site.

Now ever sense the beginning I tried to put my questions in the area they are supposed to be, but once in a great while I got something that fits more then one area, so I just went to general modeling, cause I didn't know exactly where it should go, but here lately I've noticed a lot of people have put topics for paint in general, or armor or vise versa, or totally in the wrong category, and I was wondering why they are doing that.
