I would like to start a dio with the Tamiya 88mm flak gun as the centerpiece. But I need help. I have never done a WWII dio before. Does anyone have pics of this piece on a dio of theirs? I also need help on getting the right accessories for the Tamiya kit..like an aluminum barrel for instance. Thanks for the help

I dont think that u have to spend on a metal barrel for the 88. try to make the kit with what Tamiya supplies you and it will be allright. I dont think also that there is one barrel for this kit in market, maybe you can use some other vehicles one

Check out back issues of Fine Scale Modeler. It seems like there was an article in one of last years issues by a modeler who really souped up the old Tamiya FlaK 36/37.

Hello, if your having trouble figuring out a placement for your dio there is an excellent article on flak implacements at missing lnyx
http://www.missing-lynx.com/library/german/flak_dmourtizsen.html
They even have diagrams from the germans as too how the emplacement should be laid out. I'm going to venture into doing a dio of one in the near future so I hope this info is helpful. and can't wait to see what you come up with.

Hi Wade-
As Witchking has said - I am doing a dio now using the Tamiya 88. I found the kit to be pretty good, considering its age..... and quite nicely detailed. I was unable to find any aftermarket items for mine, so I built it straight out of the box. The barrel was actually quite easy to remove the seam from - shouldn't need an AM barrel for it.

This link takes you to some pics in my gallery, if you are curious.... let me know if you have any specific questions, I'd be glad to help!
