To those people that have built tamiya's pzIV J, does the schurzen on the turret scrape against the body? Mine does and whenever i need to move the turret i have to manually lift the schurzen up.

NO, the shurtzen should fit OK, if a little tricky.
I'm currently building one. The problem maybe the position of your brackets. The setting of the brackets in height should not be a problem, but you may have some twist in them by setting the bottom part of the bracket OOP. This may cause some run out in height of the turret skirt.
If you had trouble assembling the skirt onto the bracket without leaving any tapered gaps around the access doors, then more than likely your brackets are OOP
