Hi all; I have Dragon's "US Marines Guadalcanal 1942" set and would like to do a dio; what is a good color for USMC uniforms at that point in the war? I know there were changes over the 1941-45 period; did some research but found (as normal) variations; thanks

Brian I use Vallejo Green Gray with Sunny skin tone as a base 75-25
Shadows Green Gray with chocolate 80-20
highlights Green Gray with mor Sunny skin Tone 70-30
It will give you that faded look
I hope that helps If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

The USMC uniforms often faded almost to white, so it depends on how long your boys have been in the field. Sweat stains are also a big factor in the tropics.

vallego also so makes a highlight U.S.M.C. #323. very faded out uniform which really hits it for a dry brush over there #974 green sky. It really gives you that sun bleached sweet stained worn out look for Marines that were on the cannal for a while. The uniforms, utilities, at that time really lost color very fast in the Pacific climate and use. hope this helps you.
