Im looking for advice on the best 1/35 tamiya Panzer model. Criteria for choosing should be based on the best performing Panzer that was in the field .
OR
the most Popular Panzer made as far as quantities.
Any help is apprciated....John

Well, if you want the most popular tank in terms of number of tanks produced, then you have no other choice but T-34
. However I would stay away from Tamiya's T-34s'

The panzer3 and panzer4 were the work horses of the third reich. but as far as performance goes I feel the panther was the best german overall tank. cheers Kevin

The PzIIIL by Tamiya has high marks for both being a very common type and being an exceptional model.

The newer Jagdpather kit is a gem to build and the vehicle was one tough nut to crack!

Question, are you using the term "panzer" to mean a German tank or as a generic term for an armored vehicle? I have the newish Tamiya Wespe (not a tank/panzer), the StuG III Ausf. G and the Afrika Tiger I. All are superb kits, but only the Tiger rates as a tank.
Germany's best panzer that is made as a kit by Tamiya would have to be the new Panther kit. As far as the most produced tank, that would most likely be between the PzKpfw III and PzKpfw IV. I'd say it was the IV.

I thought the most produced German AFV was the STUG series...?

You are probably correct as far as an AFV, but I was using the term "panzer" to equate to "tank" and that's why I chose the PzKpfw III or IV.I thought the most produced German AFV was the STUG series...?

Well, if you mean "panzer" as tank, I believe the most-produced tank ever was the T-55... which just so happens to be one of the best Tamiya kits! It may not be German, and may not be from WWII, but it's damn good!
If you mean "panzer" as German WWII tank, I would go with Cactus911 and get Tamiya's Panzer III. I've heard lots of good things about it... but not about their re-release with figures and aluminum barrel (overpriced I hear)

I agree with Cactus911.
the Tamiya German PzKpfw III Ausf L Medium Tank is the best on the market.
the kit number is TM35215

Propboy-
You can't go wrong with the Tamiya PzKpfw III L already mentioned.... tremendous kit.
The Tamiya PzKpfw IV H and J are also superb - any of these three would be my recommendation.
