Hello guys,
im currently building trumpeter's BTR-60 PA armed with a DShK, its a nicely detailed kit and it was fun to build it. But now after i finished construction i got no clue how to paint it, there are no informations if this vehicle was deployed in any conflict or if it was just a prototyp. I also found only 1 or 2 pictures in the internet.

So i hope anyone knows something about this vehicle and can help me out

Henrik

Hi Henrik
first welcome to Armorama.
You can't be wrong if you paint it plain green.

Yes, the Russian experts say, the version of BTR-60PA with DShK machine gun was used for the parades only. In real life the main version of BTR-60PA has usually only one 7,62mm SGMB machine gun mounted.

Thus, You can paint Your BTR in parade colours only:

Hi;

The Soviet Naval Infantry also used this Version, 4BO Green and Naval Flags were also seen. The Concord Book on the BTRs is A Good source of Info; but can be hard to source as its been OOP for some time.

Thank you guys for your quick replies, especially for the walkarounds and pictures!
The parade vehicle is recommended by trumpeter but i actually dont like it and want to do something different. I also found some more images after i searched for the navy version but also equipped with a 7,62mm mg, may i find one at the aftermarket.

Or use the SGM from the Zvezda 1/35 Soviet Assault Group WW2 Konigsberg 1944 Figure Set 3509 - which is actually an old Italeri kit. The MG just requires an empty cases bag - easily manufactured from something like Miliput.

'Hope this helps,

Brian
